Leaving Norman Wells is a tough transition for sure – you don’t know the people at the bank, you have to remember to lock the house and the truck, wearing a helmet biking is mandatory, nobody waves at you when you’re driving…. But, you feel joy and delight in the grocery stores, there are new roads and trails to explore, year-round swimming pools. But for all of us that have lived in Norman Wells and then left – a whole lot of fond memories remain. Best to you and Jesse in the future in the ‘big city’ and look forward to following your adventures here and on FB

Dear Chris and Jeff. I read your news with mixed feelings. Of course my heart is joyful, as I can see two bright persons shining brighter where more opportunities are. I close my eyes and picture you in that marvelous environment, close to my very favorite place in the world (Banff), enjoying all the beauty and pleasures that the region has to offer. I see you investigating all the corners and finding new use for the old “stuff”, as you have so well done in NW. My eyes however are tearful. I will miss you, your beautiful smile, nice photos and interesting conversations. I will miss Jeff, whom I maybe have never told how much I liked from the first moment. And I know the girls will also miss his tender look and big hands, holding them with so much care. May God be with you all the way and hopefully someday send you in my direction again.

I hope there is a healthy dose of excitement mixed in with the anxiety! Best of luck with the move – I’m sure it will feel almost tropical in contrast to the North. I have loved reading about your life in the North and experiencing Canada through a foreigner’s eyes, and I am really looking forward to hearing about your adventures in Calgary!

Chipotle chiles are my favorite – and that avocado cream sounds to die for!

Good luck with your move. I spent a few weeks in Calgary in the middle of winter and it was crazy cold like -20C though nothing compared to where you have been living. Love chipotle as a flavour hard to come by in NZ though.
